Embedding Wistia in 3rd Party Sites

We love seeing Wistia videos out there in the wild. While for some of our customers, keeping all videos inside their private account makes the most sense. Other customers are looking to embed their videos anywhere, from content management platforms to blogs, personal webpages, and other web services.

We have done our best to track down all the far-reaching places our customers have embedded Wistia videos. The table below highlights where the videos were placed, along with the embed types that worked best. Wordpress
With Wordpress and Wistia, you can post new videos to your blog and see how your audience reacts. Get actionable information on questions like are they watching the whole video? Are they skipping to different parts?

SharePoint
SharePoint is Microsoft's proprietary web application platform aimed at content and document management among teams. Create an intranet portal to share documents and manage content within your team.

Wistia's standard HTML embed codes work out-of-the-box with SharePoint. Some users may have HTTPS pop-up issues based on security settings. If this is the case, make sure you have enabled SSL embed functionality for your embed.

Basecamp
Basecamp is the popular online collaboration tool for businesses built by the guys over at 37signals. Sharing your video on Basecamp makes it easier for co-workers to see what you are describing, makes training and marketing messages clear, and keeps a log of your internal video efforts.

Wild Apricot
Wild Apricot is easy to use web-based Member Management software and website builder. With Wild Apricot and Wistia, it is easy to control who has access to your publicly embedded videos.

Drupal
Drupal is an open-sourced CMS that runs the gamut from personal blogs to enterprise applications.
To embed your video on Drupal, we recommend you use the Wistia Drupal Plug-in download here (huuuge shoutout to EvanDonovan for building it on our behalf).

Joomla
Joomla is an open-sourced platform that is very useful for managing content dynamically. Embedding your video on Joomla keeps visitors inside of your site experience, instead of navigating through public video communities.

The best way to embed in Joomla is to use the TinyMCE editor advanced settings to prevent deletion of raw HTML and iframes.

Google Sites
Google Sites are a free alternative for creating and hosting web page content. Embedding your Wistia videos in your Google Site makes sharing content and then tracking what your viewers think a breeze!

Expression Engine
Expression Engine is a professional web publishing platform that prides itself on flexibility and customer service. Posting a video on an Expression Engine page can be accomplished using standard HTML, or through oEmbed links through a special plug-in lovingly designed by user Antenna.

Blogger
Posting a new video to your Blogger account is as easy as grabbing the HTML embed code for your video, and pasting it into the blog content. Share videos with your audience, and track how they interact with it.

Posterous
Posterous is a new and fast-growing blog posting platform. Share your videos easily using Wistia HTML embed codes in the Posterous HTML editing environment.

Tumblr
Tumblr is a leading micro-blogging platform - perfect for sharing video! Putting your Wistia videos up on your Tumblr blog is as easy as generating an iframe embed, and pasting it into the “Embed a Video” option on Tumblr.
Note to iOS viewers: currently, the only way to get videos uploaded to Tumblr to work on iPhones is to paste embed codes into the HTML-editable “caption” area of Post creator.

Squarespace
Squarespace is the easiest way to set up a premium website without lots of development. With Wistia and Squarespace, embedding a video can be done with HTML, iframe, and even javascript embeds. You can also take advantage of our popover functionality and playlists.

LexBlog
LexBlog is the blogging platform for professional and practicing lawyers. LexBlog provides helpful tech support and a contact person for conquering tech issues.

Embedding videos as part of LexBlog posts works with all Wistia embed codes.

Facebook
Facebook is…well you know what Facebook is. It's one of the best places to get your message out, and video is the strongest way to share your message across. Wistia has made it easy to share your video as a Facebook “status update” (instructions here and will continue to add Facebook functionality in the future.

eBay
Nothing sets your auction apart like adding video. With Wistia analytics, you can see what percentage of your visitors engaged in the video, and how much they watched (did they constantly rewatch a 5-second scene? Maybe that is the more important info to assess the quality of the product!) For more information on posting a video to eBay, reach out to us at support@wistia.com.

Shopify
Shopify makes setting up your online store a breeze. Adding Wistia videos is a great way to show off your product, explain how it works, and introduce your customers to your brand.
To embed a Wistia video on a Shopify page, simply drop the HTML embed codes into the HTML editing space for your page.

Wix
Wix is a Flash-based website builder with drag & drop functionality. With an emphasis on great looking pages and layout, Wix is Note: Wix is built upon Flash, which means that using their sites will prevent your videos from appearing on mobile devices that don't support Flash (notably iPhones).
To embed a Wistia video in your Wix website, go to Add –> Widgets –> HTML. Click on the “Settings” for the HTML widget and you can paste your Wistia embed code where it reads “Insert HTML Code”. Once you save it, you should be all set.

Weebly
Weebly is a CMS built for those without a lot of web coding experience. It is a great way to build a webpage quickly and easily with multimedia widget add-ons.
To embed a Wistia video in your Weebly site, copy the embed code for the Wistia video you would like to embed, and paste it into a “Custom HTML” Element in your Weebly editor. After adding a “Custom HTML” Element to your page, select the Element and click the “Edit Custom HTML Link” at the top of the page.
